Globally Harmonized System (GHS) Checklist
GHS = Globally Harmonized System – Classification and labeling of chemicals
GHS checklist is designed to help to compliance of GHS – Globally harmonized system requirements for Chemical manufacturing unit. This format can also used for OSHA requirements and its compliance.
Is there material is identified for the labeling, separated for categories? Is there storage of the identified material is proper to labels?
Whether material is identified to hazardous and non hazardous? All the hazardous material’s packing / drums / boxes on at labels are deployed? Hazardous & non hazardous materials are stored separately?
All the Chemicals / Materials are categories? Classifications table / matrix is available?
All the Chemicals / Material’s base compositions and concern information – ingredients etc. are on label? Hazardous material to health or environment is classified?
How is there first Aid treated? Is there records? Medical attentions and its requirements are effectively possible at each department? Is there proper ventilated room for first aid treatment? Are there personal protective equipment for the first aids?
High Flammable /combustion – signboard, labels, arrows etc.. are at front, at storage or required areas are deployed?
Fire emergency plans are prepared? Is there mock drills are conducted? When mock drill played last, is there any records or evidences are available?
Fire equipment are suitable for possible fires?
Whether Emergency Preparedness plan is available? People are trained?
Accident / incident Controls are defined? Whether all department, area, locations are covered? Near miss monitoring, investigations are in order?
Whether peoples are trained to preventing risk during material handing and storage? Is there peoples of storage rooms are understand the stacking the materials to proper hygiene?
Is there peoples are trained for personal protective equipment? People are aware about all the chemicals / material’s effects on human body & environmental impacts?
Are there all the chemicals physical property records are available? All the incoming material testing is done properly? All the records are matched as per frequency?
Toxicological information – Handling, storage, labels, records and applicable requirements are proper maintained?
Materials Disposal is as per applicable law? All the material disposal records are maintained?
