Improve safety practice in Laboratory

The purpose of process is to provide guidelines for enhance safety practices to provide safe work environment for any operations in laboratory area

This guideline helps to enhancement in safety practices to conduct any operation in laboratory with safe work environment and also for the utilization of the space in the laboratory to keep the internal work environment and areas are make clean & secure to manage each materials in laboratory are easy to reach by any operator without any lost finding times. Utilization of the laboratory is helps to making a organized environment to helps lab peoples makes efficient performance.

Lab in charge / Lab manager is responsible to improvement planning for the safety practices in the laboratory, guidelines & instruct to other staff peoples, staff peoples are responsible to maintain safety & improve safety practices. Lab in charge to ensure that the instructions / procedures are strictly followed, work instruction, safety boards, labels are established by lab manager without its instruction no one can change.

General Safety Instruction can apply in laboratory

1. Peoples must wear glows, glasses, gas mask etc.., and personal protective equipment to operating chemicals, chemical reagents or any hazardous categorized material.
2. The personnel should wear protective cloths to prevent skin contact with any hazardous chemicals.
3. After handling any laboratory chemicals, materials must wash hands.
4. The personnel should take care to be observing the material; chemicals are properly closed tightly in boxes, bags and containers.
5. At any place if spillage of material is occurs clean up the area immediately
6. Around or on machine if dust, oil, grease are spillage while operating immediate cleaning machine by cotton & dispose it in deployed bin.
7. All Procedures, Work Instructions, Manuals & Other Documents are deployed their locations? In case not in use, to be ensure shall be returned to their appropriate locations.
8. All the electrical cables, switches, panels boards are should not be opened, away from water lines & proper insulated in case found immediate action on it in the laboratory.

Safety Equipments in laboratory

The Laboratory should be fully equipped by necessary safety equipment & appliances to controlling on the hazards / aspects can raised during operations of laboratory, here some required safety equipment / Safety Appliances:

The hazardous materials & high flammable materials and chemicals are wherever are storage, process and handled at all places should be fully equipped with the safety requirements, fire extinguishers as per materials are in used, Fire extinguishers should deployed at required locations so in case of need they are easily reachable to everyone in laboratory. At the laboratory, first aid box is very important that minor cuts & injury which possible to immediate provides medicines & primary treatment to patient, first aid box with adequate medicines shall be kept at a place where it is easily accessible to laboratory peoples. Each required medicines, medicine lists are properly checked periodically & add as on required.
